On a typical afternoon at West High School, some students may build robots, while others discuss poetry, and others prepare a meal. Extra-curricular opportunities ranging from theater, to drawing, to physics, to Yarniacs, and beyond provide unique experiences for the students of West High. For Juniors and Seniors, some will spend their day with Freshmen whom they are mentoring through the school’s Link Crew program. Students at all grade levels will spend some time in Academic Lab, where they have the opportunity to make up missed work or tests and meet with teachers for individual help. At certain times of the school week, some students might not even be on campus. The school’s Spark program provides students with immersion-based learning experiences through partnerships with local businesses and community service organizations. Through these programs, West High strives to fulfill its mission to foster lifelong learning and good citizenship by developing critical thinking, altruism, and responsibility. These efforts continue beyond high school, with West’s A+ program. This state-funded program awards scholarships to eligible students who go on to attend a community college, vocational, or technical school. Each of West’s 1,400 students can benefit from these potentially life-changing educational and extra-curricular experiences. These above-par programs have earned West High School an A+ rating from Niche, and a ranking in the top 5 public high schools in the state of Missouri.

I think it has great foundations however we need better funding for the music department as well as the pool for swim and waterpolo. Our football has a lot of money and we spent a lot on the art wing when we were promised a new pool years ago.

Great swim program-excellent honors math and science programs. There was a lot of parent involvement in both.

It's a pretty chill school. The safety issue isn't on the school, but there have been a few threats in the past two years. The education is great!

This district and this high school are behind other districts in this area in that the honors courses are less engaging, children with special education needs are not well served and IEPs are not followed. If you are looking to buy a home in this area and you have children who could go to public sch...
