Some of the earliest educational moments in Belding, Michigan, occur at Ellis Elementary. Since its doors opened in 1900, Ellis Elementary School has prepared young learners for a bright future in the Belding Area School District. The school’s mission is to “provide a community where all children can learn and become responsible citizens.” Teachers, parents, students and community members work together to reach this goal. Conveniently located on Ellis Street, just north of the Flat River, the Ellis Elementary curriculum focuses on writing, reading, math and social-emotional learning. Students also explore science, art, music and other topics as they prepare to move on to third grade in Woodview Elementary School. Outdoor playtime, field trips and summer celebrations are also important components of holistic learning and growth at Ellis Elementary. Parents are encouraged to support the school community by providing snacks, volunteering for events and celebrating the highly rated teachers. Thanks to dedicated community support, teachers at Ellis Elementary can provide a quality educational environment for competitively sized classes.
