Amazing high school that has helped me expand my love for the arts and has given me a unique set of skills that are applicable in both the academic and nonacademic world.

Overall it's a good school where you specialize in a department. As a Math Science Student it prepares me academically but deeply affects our GPAs making us have the lowest GPAs in the school and the school's profile has nothing to explain its reason for this. All the other departments are at an advantage as only Math/Science has access to the more difficult AP classes and can only take around 4 APs while the M/S students take up to 17 allowing us to gain knowledge as all of us pass the APs with at least a 3 (usually a 4 or 5) but our grades tank as we go through the difficult courses.

Good prep for after schooling. The best part is the teachers, they are very understanding. The worst part is the 3rd floor, they don't really fix any problem they tend to just try and brush it under the rug.

I attended ASFA 35 years ago and my daughter is in her 4th year there now. She is in Theatre Arts and we have loved everything about the school.

It's an amazing school. As a first year student, I wasn't really expecting as much as many other students were since I'm not from Birmingham. But I was overwhelmed with the opportunities, diversity, and overall happy aura of the school. It has its down perks and downfalls like any other school but i...

One of the best public schools in the state of Alabama, and for a certain kind of student, it is ideal. The school is not under the oversight of a district, which gives ASFA's educators freedom to do what is best for their students. Class sizes are small, specialty programs are unparalleled by any o...
