Wylam Elementary School is located at Erie Street and Seventh Avenue. The school serves over 400 students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Initially built in 1922, the school moved to a brand-new building in 2010.
Wylam Elementary renewed its vision and commitment to students’ success after the school was deemed a “failing school” in 2013 under the Alabama Accountability Act. Since then, the school has gained popularity among parents as the faculty strives to ensure that every student is proficient in reading and math at or above grade level. By lowering the student-teacher ratio to 15-1, slightly better than the district average, teachers can provide students with more individualized education.
Students at Wylam Elementary School can participate in numerous after-school activities, including sports, Math in Motion and Student Government Association. The Junior Beta Club offers students a chance to grow academically and nurture leadership skills for the future.

The worst school I have ever seen...not only do they not deal with bullies but a teacher actually hit my 5 year old autistic grandson and couldn't remember why and another teacher took his snack as punishment...do not send your kids to this school...my grandkids have fallen behind on what they shoul...

This school is terrible my son is not learning anything he will have to be enrolled in another school next year for better education the teachers are not doing their job im better off home schooling him

I love the way the teachers look after ALL the kids...not just their pets !!!...I will be SO GLAD when the kids can stop riding the bus
