GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Hostos is a very "meh" school, the school and the building itself all are very mediocre, while there are worse schools out there, hostos continuously shows a lack of responsibility as in my senior year a critical error was made on my schedule that almost cost me graduation, I will say there are more good teachers than bad that genuinely care for the well being of the students.

Majority of the teachers are great and really care about the students. You can tell that they prioritize students and their education. The neighborhood is not the best but not the worst and the school has a variety of classes to take. The best part of the high school personally is their early college program that allows students to take college classes at the local community college and graduate high school with their associates degree.

I had a really good High School life here. My time in HLA was drama-free and the school culture isn't as crazy, compared to other schools. The academic rigor mixed with the support teachers gave to students was a mix that called for success. I was one who dealt with a heap of work during my sophomore year, and all of my teachers gave me so much encouragement, which, in my opinion, is what got me to get through 10th grade.

I'm a recent graduate student in 2011. And I have nothing but nice things to say about the school. The teacher and staff are very hands on with every student and situations. I've been in this school since the 6th grade. And I must say it have a safe environment . The MGI program that they offer is v...
