The Piedmont School of Atlanta is located in Brookhaven, Ga., on the Oglethorpe University campus. The goal of the school is to provide a diverse education that stresses community-based learning, social-emotional learning and problem-solving in an attempt to produce well-rounded individuals. With class sizes of five to 10 students and a student-to-teacher of 5-to-1, educators are able to focus on differentiated instruction and effectively address each student’s needs. The school offers a number of afterschool activities that include tutoring and aftercare.
The Piedmont School follows the Georgia Department of Education Standards and the National Core Curriculum, while actively addressing deficit areas of its students and offering enrichment programs in areas of interest for individual students. It also integrates project-based learning in all of its core curriculum subjects. In addition to focusing on the core curriculum, project- and community-based learning and social-emotional learning, the school offers a program that addresses bullying and aims to ensure that every student feels safe.
