Charles O. Dewey’s mission statement is “Inspiring young minds today. Empowering leaders for tomorrow.” The school manages to do just that by adopting the Leader in Me program model based on Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which helps students to develop the confidence, skills and self-assurance they need to thrive in high school and beyond. It also promotes Common Core curriculum to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. Middle schoolers at Charles O. Dewey can commute to school via the express 36th Street subway station where the N, R, W trains converge, or take the 4th Avenue bus to the 39th Street station for more local routes.
