I began attending this school my junior year of high school, prior to I was homeschooled. As an individual with an outside point of view, I hope that there is more care and effort put into theater, music, and the arts in the future. They are often an under appreciated piece of the school, but ultimately where I and many others have found a home. The leaders of these departments are given little to work with and offer so much in return. Proof that the arts will grow anywhere there are seeds.

Although there is a strong sense of community in our small school there is still a lot of bullying and discrimination to say the least. The amount of racial discrimination I hear in the halls is atrocious and I feel as though the administration does not do much to stop it. Some of the teachers here also do the absolute minimum. It is difficult to learn when it feels as though some teachers are not putting in the amount of effort necessary.

I liked that Bureau Valley is a small school because that made the class sizes smaller, which created on average a twenty to one student to teacher ratio. However, this school seems to not be able to keep their teachers and staff. New teachers and staff rotate in and out of this school every year it seems.
