GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Carbon Hill High School is a great school. However, like most schools, it has its downside to being a student at CHHS. CHHS is lacking on its discipline policy. We have so many students vaping and getting high while at school that even students and teachers have complained about it. While CHHS does have a no vaping policy, the only discipline the students get is that they go to alternative school, which is a joke. In all of that said, CHHS is a great school with its dedicated teachers and staff.

Carbon Hill has been my school since I was 4 years old. I have seen many things change and get better or worse with time, I have seen teachers and students come in and out. There is no school with more love than C Hill, no matter what we always support each other as a school, community, and family. It is very small so everyone knows everyone which is good because no one is ever alone. Our teachers and administration try to make sure we have as much fun as we can all the time. I have never went anywhere else and I am so thankful for that.

The attendance at this school is awesome (56 in perfect attendance for 2010-2011 school year)! They must be doing something right!

Parents are discouraged from participating in school functions unless they are in the 'elite' parent groups. Phone calls to administration take sometimes weeks to get returned. Athletics take priority over academics.
