Prairie Trace Hawks are prepared to become future leaders at Prairie Trace Elementary School. Located next to the White River, this top-rated school joins 10 others in the Carmel Clay School District. First established in 1998, the school stands out thanks to its Intensive Behavior Support Program, commitment to 21st Century skills and special programs.
As one of three district elementary schools with an Intensive Behavior Support Program, Prairie Trace seeks to equip students of all abilities with the resources they need to succeed. The program uses an integrated approach to solve problems and define goals for future learning. Students who need ongoing behavior support after graduating from Prairie Trace can continue in the program offered at Carmel Middle and Carmel High schools.
Teachers at Prairie Trace Elementary also work to give high-ability students the challenging environment they need to continue to grow. This program works with students to create accelerated pacing and advanced coursework for continued success. While the student population size is similar to other schools in the district, Prairie Trace offers competitive class sizes and students typically score above average in state testing.
A special education program, dynamic student clubs and a strong parent-teacher organization provide year-round enrichment opportunities. Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation also provides a before- and after-school care program on the Prairie Trace campus.

We moved to this school district in 2023 BECAUSE of the schools. Our daughter has never had so much fun learning! The district actively tracks student progress several times a year against the school and district wide. All Carmel schools are great, but Prairie Trace stands out.
