One big problem at Catoctin High School is that most students are afraid to use the bathrooms due to the kids vaping in them all the time. They hang out in there and occupy the main area, as well as the stalls. Because of that, the kids who do not vape feel like they can't access the bathrooms. I feel that the school administration should really do something about this problem. It has been going on for several years now. Also, our school is not very diverse, but that it because of where we are located. It has gotten better in the last few years. The school lunches are pretty bad, but I don't blame that on the school. The food gets brought in every morning and heated up - it's not made on the premises. Therefore, it is a county-wide problem, I believe. Also, because of the attitudes of some of the students, it is difficult to keep teachers for very long. If administration would be more strict with the problem kids, they might get teachers to stay longer.

It's been extremely difficult growing up in such a small conservative town. It's been years of trouble finding people who share my career interests. Most of the classes are agriculture based which means taking random courses to fill your schedule. There are few teachers who I've been able to connect with. The education is very medicore. Don't expect any safety concerns to be taken seriously. There is a wonderful art department and some other incredible teachers scattered around. The food options are horrible which is unfortunate for people who rely on the free and reduced meals. It'll often be cold and rock solid rolls. I will say dealing with constant racism and hatred has been my drive. I truly feel I can deal with anything in this world. I can appreciate the small town feel and gorgeous scenery. I simply wish we treated everyone with kindness and spread a little more love.

My experience was average, seemed like a typical highschool experience. Catoctin was huge into sports which I participated in up until my senior year. I'd recommend Catoctin.

Catoctin has been incredibly...average. Some teachers are really wonderful (the best teachers usually end up leaving) and some are really awful. If you have the means to send your children somewhere else, do it. The arts are extremely underfunded, the athletic director favors male sports, and the ad...

Its ok, but the teachers pick favorites all the time, there's not a whole lot of diversity, and the staff members dont know how to stay out of peoples business. Catoctin needs several changes to their school system.
