What started in 1941 as a two-room schoolhouse that housed 56 students is now a thriving academic institution serving over 350 students in grades K-8. The modern Ascension School campus includes Ascension Catholic church, the elementary and middle schools, plus a library, gymnasium, multi-purpose room, playground, athletic fields, and inviting sites for prayer and reflection.
Students at Ascension School are given opportunities to foster growth in academic achievement, religious attitudes, and moral behavior. Religion is integrated into all aspects of student life. Daily Religion classes are complemented by incorporation of faith in all classes.
A comprehensive curriculum includes core subjects supplemented by art, music, PE, computer, and Spanish. A unique buddy program pairs kindergarteners with 7th graders and 1st graders with 8th graders to enjoy prayer and play time together.
Students at Ascension School enjoy a host of extra-curricular activities. Competitive clubs include geography bee and spelling bee. STEM pursuits include mad science, robotics, and brickz 4 kidz. Other creative outlets include choir, scouts, safety patrol, altar service, and girls on the run. And for the athletes of Ascension, the school offers multiple sporting events, including golf, soccer, volleyball, track, and basketball.
An active Parents’ Association keeps the school engaged with campus and community events. Favorites include an ice cream social, fall festival, and field day.
Whether in the classroom, on the ball field, or at a family festival, Ascension students receive consistent reinforcement of the school’s six core values: faith, family, knowledge, leadership, respect, and service.

Ascension is a great school with a warm, friendly and engaged parent community. The middle school (6-8) curriculum although challenging prepares the kids appropriately for high school. Overall, Ascension provides the right balance of challenging academics, Catholic discipline and Christian values.

Absolutely love this school. We moved to St. Louis a year ago when my daughter. Everyone at the school is so warm and to this day (my daughter is in first grade) I feel so lucky that we found such a gem of a school.
