470 students in grades K-5 gather each school day at Shenandoah Valley Elementary, and no two days are quite the same. Throughout the school year, students enjoy diverse experiences that provide opportunities to learn new subjects, explore new interests, and develop new relationships. Engaging school events include talent shows, dress-up days, robot challenge, chalk the walk, and popsicles on the playground. These events bring students and families together for community enrichment. Extra-curricular opportunities at Shenandoah have expanded student horizons. The pom-pom club has been selected to perform at Disneyworld’s Magic Kingdom. And the third grade Suzuki violin performers were chosen to play with the St. Louis Symphony. Back in the classroom, Shenandoah Elementary curriculum ensures every student’s learning needs are met, with a gifted program and services from the St. Louis Special School District. Staff integrate state-of-the-art technology into daily instruction through the use of SMART Boards and computer clusters in the classrooms. Before and after school, students have the opportunity to participate in Adventure Club. This affordable, high-quality care program meets the needs of working families and provides homework time and additional enrichment activities for students. These academic and extra-curricular efforts have earned Shenandoah Elementary an “A” grade from Niche, and has placed it in Niche’s top 20 best public elementary schools in Missouri.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Both of their teachers were absolutely fabulous, caring and concerned. My, now 3rd grader, has an outstanding teacher again this year....

Most of the teachers are top notch, and a few could be easily replaced with more competent individuals. The district has made some questionable changes to the cirriculum in the past few y...
