Located at 3116 W Belden Ave. in Chicago's Logan Square, Darwin Elementary serves pre-kindergarten / kindergarten through eighth grade and is part of the "Leader in Me" movement. The "Leader in Me" initiative is founded on a belief that all children possess leadership qualities that can positively influence their educational experience.
Darwin Elementary enrolls 538 students who enjoy an average class size of 25 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 22-to-1. Darwin's athletic department includes competitive cheerleading, softball, soccer, baseball, basketball, cross country, track and field and volleyball. Students also participate in extracurricular activities like painting, choir, rock band, drama, poetry, creative writing and world language courses.
The school's outdoor facilities provide younger children with colorful playground space and wide paved paths. Inside Darwin Elementary, students celebrate large displays of wall art that include the "Great Happens Here" collage.

This may be the worst school in Logan Square. Send your child to Brentano. Brentano has a higher curriculum and prepares students for a better outcome academically. This school has nothing to offer. If you or child encounter at Darwin, Goodluck the tables will turn on you and your child.

Do not send your children here, everything is “GREAT” until your child has an issue or you want to address something. Principal and Assistant Principal will refuse to address the problem and turn you away. We have transferred our daughters out of here immediately. Horrific admin.

Darwin Principal and Assistant Principal and staff are poorly trained. The school is severely understaffed but have $15 grant in 2023. During that year the biggest purchase was over 20 fish tanks planted throughout the school, now in 2024 not one is in sight. There is so much bullying and racism at...
