Beautiful inside and out, Chicago Montessori has been serving the academic and social needs of pre-kindergarten through middle school students for almost 20 years and is the only Montessori school accredited by the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) for ages 0 to 12 in Chicago. Chicago Montessori emphasizes independent, hands-on learning that encourages self-direction in children. Chicago Montessori's gracefully maintained brick school and artfully designed interiors complement the school's focus on environmental learning. 40 students are enrolled at Chicago Montessori and enjoy an average student-to-teacher ratio of 13-to-1. At toddler stages, children are guided into refining their physical coordination and emerging cognitive skills. When children reach three to six years of age, they pursue Chicago Montessori's Primary curriculum that includes arts and crafts, problem solving and social exchanges with peers. Abstract thinking through geometry, chemistry and math studies is prioritized for elementary children from six to nine years of age. Students explore empathy and their creativity through writing and the performing arts. Adolescent 12-year-old students begin to work alongside adults in the community, mixing academics with personal goal setting and practical young adult experiences. At Chicago Montessori, students unearth a genius for discovery and self-actualization that is innate to every child.
