GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have had a great high school experience at IVC (Illinois Valley Central). They provide a lots of opportunity for dual credit and AP classes. They are also a CLEP testing site so I was able to take several CLEP tests for college credit.

Most of the teachers really do care about everyone of their students, and don't play favorites which is encouraging. On the other hand, there are a few teachers who make learning efficiently very difficult. Overall, this school has a lot of opportunities for student involvement and gives students a decent education.

Overall kind of terrible, people are rude and we have major drug problems. Other than that it's still bad, not good quality education and there's not enough money to give to anything other than football. So if you break a beaker in science, you're fresh out of luck because they won't buy another one to replace it. Oh and don't even think about having funding for the music programs, there's literally none. A thousand a year maybe? Kind of awful

I graduated from IVC. I felt very prepared for college (in fact, I thought college was easier! - and I got 2 bachelor's degrees in 4 years with a 4.0). Nearly all my friends - both AP students and students who took regular courses - went to college or trade school and were very successful. May of my...

I attended IVC High School. I felt really prepared when I went to college. I took honors and AP classes and all of my teachers made sure we understood the material, even in classes that were not honors and AP. IVC helped me network and I am proud to say that my network is now international. I was ab...

All my children have attended or are attending IVC High School. Academics is not king -- we have more kids in music! Academics are second to none. Teachers go the extra mile. Administration listens to my comments and concerns.

Very poor academic advisement offered to students. The focus is mainly on sports and not on making the school experience positive for all students.
