Columbus East Elementary School cares for and motivates students by building a sense of community and tailoring instruction and support to individual student needs. Columbus East also strives to cultivate a positive learning environment. The school employs specialized staff to support its 350 fourth to sixth grade students with their academic, emotional and social needs. Beyond the core curriculum, the public school offers instruction in music, digital literacy and art. Other learning opportunities outside of the classroom include Mathletes, tech club, a service learning club and a student council, as well as bass for fourth and sixth graders. Students in the fifth or sixth grade can also participate in intramural sports. Students at the school usually perform below the state average on standardized tests for English and math. Columbus East sits next to its sister school, Columbus West; both are located on the edge of a residential section of Cicero.

My review is directly towards one specific teacher. She shows no care to actually taking the time to teach the students. Instead of helping the children she belittles them as if the children should already know the problems. Our kids go to learn not to be criticized because they don't understand a p...

I attended Columbus East and West elementary school, I could honestly say that these are the two best schools' in Cicero. the teachers there care the students and direct them toward the path of success.
