My experience at my high school is like any other black female's would be at a predominantly white high school. I am treated differently based on skin color because white is the beauty standard. I am called slurs and hear them said by people who have earned no right to say them on a daily basis. I always have to look over my shoulder and present myself in the correct way in fear that I may be punished if not doing so. I cannot react but only overreact because when I do I am perceived as "ghetto" by my teachers and peers. I don't fit in with the white people because I am "too black" yet I don't fit in with the black people because I am "too white." Going to school at a predominantly white high school is challenging yet I have learned to grow and become stronger despite my trials. I will not allow myself to be put inside a box or repress my true self. Instead I will stay true to me no matter who may pass glances or give looks.

This school has let me experience so many things that I thought I would never do. It made me come out of my shell a lot. The sports at the school is probably the best highlight of it all. I also learned many things, but averagely. I would say half of my classes have actually prepared me for the real world and college. Our teachers are very laid back, but also help us get the work done. Overall, the school has its difficulties, but high school was probably the best four years of school I have had.
