Skyway Park Elementary School is part of the Cheyenne Mountain School District, serving roughly 300 students between kindergarten through six grades. Cheyenne Mountain Schools’ history began in 1872 when families built a 144 square foot school house near Cheyenne Creek. Two years later, a larger school house was built. During this time, the school was designated a District #12 school. As more families settled into the area, additional structures were built to separate grade levels and accommodate student learning. Cheyenne Mountain School District became one of the top 100 school districts in the country by 2004.
The school doesn’t offer bus service and implements a strict student drop off and pick up schedule, for the safety of your child. School begins promptly at 7:50 a.m. and parents are asked to drop students off no earlier than 7:40 a.m. The exception is if a child is attending breakfast around 7:30 a.m. Children must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.
Aside from engaging general education, learners at Skyway are provided with multiple outdoor education during recess, physical education and outdoor learning. The school develops strong character via daily practice of the school’s principles and structured curriculum, including students with learning differences.
