GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I love this school mainly because this school has people you'll never really see in other places but also this school is pretty small. This school teaches you how to be yourself and how to build yourself as a person and shape you for the real world

I like the small class sizes at Houston County High School. You are able to receive one on one assistance when needed; however, due to the low number of students, I do not believe that the school does a good job with choices for classes. During my entire high school career, there have only ever been offered two elective classes each year; and, usually the students are selected for one elective class for half a year and the only other elective class the second half of the year.

In the last three years I’ve seen vast improvements happening within the walls of Houston County. A new principal has been brought in and he’s trying to change the way people see the school and its students. Many new teachers grace the hallways and classrooms. The counselor works tirelessly to help...

Children/students need a daily dose of vitamin e - ENCOURAGEMENT! You won't find that at HCHS. The administrative staff fail terribly! Students are told "they will never be successful; you're stupid; you'll never amount to anything". The school has become a dumping ground for those teachers and admi...

HCHS has a small attendance of students, many of which you might consider are of a disadvantage. As such, my student has had their locker broken into, clothing has been stolen, books, binders, pens, pencils... stolen! There are no lockers in the gym and the athletes have to leave their personal belo...

I think that all of the people who say this is a great school must work there. I have children at this school, they are picked on, ridiculed, and made fun of by staff at this school, I wish that I could afford to move back home to Florida, schools there are great.
