There’s a lot going on at Irmo High School, as there is never a boring moment to be found at this lively institution. A diverse selection of classes, extracurricular activities and a variety of pre-career training opportunities give students in ninth through twelfth grades a wide range of choices—and that’s only the start. Nationally certified by Magnet Schools of America, Irmo High School is the International School for the Arts, blending the state standard core curriculum with visual and performing arts from around the world. In addition to arts integrated core classes, students can choose from such courses as photography, ceramics, stained glass, band, orchestra, world drums, chorus, theater or college level dance classes, to name a few. Home of the Yellow Jackets, Irmo High School has a full athletic program and about 50 clubs and organizations serve a variety of student interests. The on-campus Air Force JROTC unit is both an activity and career preparation, and the Green Step School program focuses on environmental and sustainability issues. This Escolares Academic Magnet is a magnet school within the magnet, offering an accelerated program of coursework for freshmen and sophomores in order to prepare them for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Career programs, another specialized learning component, during their junior and senior years.

Since I've been at Irmo high school for almost 4 years now I can say it is not too bad of a school. Some things they do need to change are the amount of people that vape in the bathroom is very annoying.

The best part about Irmo is the school spirt because majority of the students are really involved in the school and the worst part is how clean the school is, irmo is flithy with roaches and poop all over the bathroom.

This school is an absolute nightmare. It feels like a dark cloud hangs over every corner, and no one seems to care about the torment I go through each day. Imro high has clearly dissapointed my by showing racial discrimiation and biased towards students of color. The caucasian student did not recieve any disciplanary action although the code of conduct was broken. Irmo high school states that they have a zero tolerance for bullying and using racial slu...

This school has fallen a part. My son graduated in '21 and the last year was really rough, even by pandemic standards. Teachers were required to maintain online and in person classes.
