Camera, an…d action! When the camera is rolling, students are learning at Seven Oaks Elementary School. Broadcast television, video production, radio and podcasting are only some of the communications and digital technology skills students acquire in their quest to “Communicate, Collaborate, and Create” through media. As the MEDIA Magnet school, Seven Oaks Elementary uses a wide range of media to teach core subjects through interactive learning and hands-on experiences. With on-site state-of-the-art TV, radio/podcasting studios and an up-to-the-minute Mac Lab, students in grades two through five have the opportunity to learn broadcasting, video editing and computer coding. By engaging in project-based collaborative learning, students integrate real-world experiences with the core curriculum. For instance, live TV and radio news broadcasts are produced by students using journalistic research, script writing and reporting of local news. The goal at Seven Oaks is to prepare students for success in an increasingly digital society by focusing on real-world skills of research, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation. Seven Oaks Elementary School serves about 550 students from 4-year-old kindergarten, or 4K, through grade five and is a Title 1 school. Federal funding from the Title 1 program helps students attain proficiency and meet state academic standards.

My child and I left a very rigid private school to come to SOES, and she soared personally and academically. I especially like the NO BULLYING campa...

This school has the best teachers that really care about the children and all the staff knows the children's names even though they are not their teachers. The atmosphere is always happy.
