The James Geisler Middle School in the Walled Lake Consolidated School District is named after a former district superintendent. The school hosts grades 6-8 and is one of four middle schools in the Walled Lake district. As students move from elementary to middle school environment, they see increasing attention placed on academics, attendance, and the opportunity to explore more course options as they start looking at college and career choices. The standing improvement plan at Geisler Middle School even has to address school infractions. But the most emphasis is on course material and the basics of reading, writing, math, and the sciences. Geisler students also start to see more emphasis compared to their elementary grades from the district approach to a collaborative effort involving themselves, parents or guardians, and their teachers. They begin to view high school and long-term learning and employment goals with more focus. Geisler staff work to help them get exposed to all they can achieve. Athletics and music courses and competitions are now also becoming more important. Geisler's athletics program helps funnel young athletes into both competitive and non-competitive sports. Parents and guardians play an increasingly important role in the progress of students, including planning and staging non-academic special events and programs. They also help manage the Skyward program. That allows parents and guardians direct online access to information about student progress and activities. Geisler's primary goal is to prioritize instruction while fostering relationships that make learning more meaningful.

I like being a student at Geisler. The community is very good and welcoming. The kids are alright there’s some bad ones that ruin it for all but there are good consequences for that. Teachers are very nice and always ready to teach. Overall Geisler is a good

i got bullied every single day, nothing was done about it. i’d get bullied right infront of the teachers, and they wouldn’t bat an eye. horrible.
