GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Cotopaxi creates a friendly environment for almost everyone, and everyone know each other. It was nice being apart of a small community.

It's a very good school. It comes with all of the benefits that small schools typically have. Even for our low number of students, we manage to pull our weight like we are one of the bigger schools. However, like many small schools, we can find ourselves understaffed, and without as many programs or opportunities.

The teachers are nice and willing to help if you ask. It is very easy to get a good grade if you actually care and they are often flexible with deadlines, however, there are a few teachers that are more strict on grading. The course load is normally light unless you enroll in online or college classes. I would have to say that they do not prepare you for the rigor of college academics, but none of the schools around here do. The school culture is very sports oriented and cliquish like every other high school.

For the first four years I was able to volunteer each week in the classroom with the kids. I saw hands-on the level of education that was provided. My...

Cotopaxi Middle School on the outside looks like a great environment, low student teacher ratio, small town, and an opportunity for your child to play in any sport they offer. But that's where it stops. Smaller in no way makes it better. How a school that small can lose sight of their students is be...
