My son recently switched from another school to Countryside Day School, and I'm so happy we made the decision. Previously, my son was not happy to go to school. When asked what he did each day, his response was usually, "I don't remember." Rarely was he happy that Monday was coming and that it was time to go back to school. Additionally, I would only see other parents during drop-off and pick-up, which made it quite difficult to build relationships or for my son to see his friends outside of school. Since enrolling at Countryside, our dinners together are filled with stories and lessons learned at school. He also shows greater interest in reading, writing and painting at home, which was never viewed as a positive activity before. I've found that most parents are very involved outside of school hours and school days. I've participated in several activities outside of school where we had fun and built relationships with other families that have a strong presence in my son's life.
