i have experienced many lockdowns at kentwood, most of which were over fights that broke out. i would like to see a better student participation and enthusiasm/spirit

The best parts of my experience were the students who went out of their way to make someone's day along with the friends I made. The Office Staff and counselors provide great advice and exceptional guidance compared to other schools. The worst part of my experiences would be some of the teaching staff. While some are amazing others are not proficient in effectively adapting to teach students that are used to newer concepts or methods rather than old-school ones. I have also witnessed occasions where some students feel oppressed or not heard. I recommend having continuous meetings and training staff to adapt to different ways of teaching or handling students as newer generations come by.

I think that Kentwood does a great job with AP and college in the high school courses. I've had only one where I didn't feel that I was receiving a higher level of education. Mr. Harps calculus class however was the best AP class I've ever taken and because he was such a great teacher I got a five on that exam. Kentwood has some behavioral issues but overall, I believe it is a great place to receive education.

The special needs program in the school is in complete shambles. The teacher is rarely there and the aids do not respond or communicate. Not only that but they have no degrees or education in how to manage special needs children. Go elsewhere if you can.

The school is great, the students are greatly involved by school spirit, with plays, athletics, and going to support others, at JROTC events, athletic events, musical events (plays, band/orchestra/choir concerts, etc).
