my experience at Danville high school was a very rocky start but my second year at danville high school was a lot better with our new principal. Mr. Bretzs is a very nice very caring very involved principal in my opinion. Mr. Bretzs cares a lot for dancille high school, he cares about the students, the teachers, and staff. he is probably the best person to have be principal. he cares a lot about safety and security for all in the building.

My experience at Danville High school is that there are some teachers and students that are genuinely good people. But then there are the bad apples in the crowd. Sometimes the good out weighs the bad. I feel like not all of the teachers there probably prepare the students for high school. There are a select few that kept it real with us students and told us what we are getting ourselves into when it comes to college but then it is the teachers who sugar coated everything. Yes I understand that they probably didn't want to scare us but nothing is more scary than going into the real world unprepared because they wanted to just tell me what I wanted to hear. Sometimes the best conversations are the uncomfortable ones. Another bad part are the fights. There aren't many but it's really annoying parts of the school gets blocked off for time periods and it can be really frustrating when you're trying to get to class. But other than that making friends and memories was really fun.

Attending Danville High School, the best part is that it is one step closer to building a life for success and to see the teachers who love to teach go above and beyond for every single one of their students. The worst part about Danville High School is the curriculum. Students of color try to use their voice, but when they use their voice to ask teachers or principles if the curriculem can changed or added to, it always comes to a point where they say they are not allowed to teach true black history because it is not allowed. It is a true disappointment that there is no true equity in high school.

My children have experienced many opportunities academically and with extra-curricular that are preparing them for the next level. They have been blessed with teachers that challenge and extend learning. Administrators and staff are welcoming and excellent communicators.

I have taught in a smaller sized city school with much less diversity. That school has an extremely unsupportive administration as opposed to DHS. Yes the kids there can be a rowdy and make poor decisions, but I have seen much much worse behavior in a school where the students truly do run the schoo...

Fights, drug use, gang affiliation, and non caring teachers are a big issue. There are a couple amazing teachers here, but It seems like most of the teachers and staff do not believe in the students. They do not help you succeed. It is all up to the student. Also, lack of discipline is a huge issue.
