Decatur high school is a pretty great school, with a lot of mental health resources, as well as a lot of embraced diversity. I can't think of much that I would like to see change, though I think working on building a friendlier system for attendance might help make it easier to log absences and encourage people to ensure that they check out properly.

In my sophomore year at Decatur High School, I felt lost because I couldn't find my way around the school and my classes. I had to learn to ask students to show me where certain classes were because I was lost most of the time. Eventually, in my junior and senior years, I found things a lot easier, and it helps when you make friends. I have been able to feel a part of the school community, and most teachers are nicer than I thought.

Generally, I have enjoyed my experience at Decatur High School. I am pushed to do my best and encouraged to succeed. Our school focuses on academic excellence through the IB diploma and career pathway programs, while also helping students prioritize their mental health. For example, we have the student center where students can go whenever they feel distressed or need a break.

This entire district is imploding on itself due to intense pressure from the community to enable students' self-destructive, out of control behavior. As a parent I love the school. My son graduated from Decatur high school 2019 and my daughter is scheduled to graduate 2022 in both have flourished in the school. Teachers are amazing, small school feel and great community to live in.

So far our experience has been excellent. I myself went to a parochial school because the public schools in my hometown were not up to par. My wife was a public school kid that attended a great PS.
