I first attended this school when I was in the 10th grade. Everyone was very welcoming and greeted me with a warm smile, and the assistant principal checked up on me in my first week to ensure I was doing well in my classes. During my time there, I learned the value of teamwork in my classes and in sports. My counselor really helped me prepare for college in my Junior year, providing me with scholarships I could apply for and informing me about colleges I could apply that fit my interests and also had the program I wanted to major in.

The best parts of my high school experience was the games and school events that we've had. The worst parts were when we had to test for so long. Things I would like to see change is the school spirit.

Southwest Dekalb High School is something truly special to both me and my heart. Even though at times I may be struggling on a Psychics quiz and wishing I took an easier course instead, SWD still manages to help me push through during the good or the bad.

My child attended this school for an extremely short period of time before I made the decision to remove her. The school lacks structure, staff professionalism, discipline and effective leadership. My neighbors child who was a female Freshman, brandnew to the school, had her headphones snatched from...

I have two daughters at this school and the changes over the past few years have been for the better. The teachers actually teach and realize success isn't based on workload but quality teaching.

We love this school. Our son was on a hardship transfer to SWD last year. The staff are great. We didn't have to worry about the safety of our child and we knew the expectations of the teachers. We fought tooth and nail to keep our child here.

Exciting facilities to support our talented students. Southwest DeKalb High School has recently completed construction on the 83,816-square-foot Fine Arts Center and renovations. The new wing includes a 640-seat auditorium and a two-story block with 31 instructional classrooms, including computer, m...
