It is a very competitive high school that puts a lot of academic pressure on its students. If you are not an extremely high achieving student, don't come from a wealthy background or have support outside of school you will not be at the "top" of your class. The teachers at the school are generally supportive and care a lot about their students.

Classes are either very easy or very difficult with no in between. Many teachers try very hard but others not at all. It is hard to predict and hard to manage. Nevertheless, the school is very safe, has a lot of resources, and is improving.

East is a very competitive academic school with most students wanting to apply to UNC. I love how good most of the teachers are but everyone sweats at school work. I don't think you can really change much about the competitiveness of the academics but I would like to see more envolvement in the school spirit and better athletics.

If you go to East you have to choose to either completely change your personality and not be able to live life normally again or fail and never be happy.

East is the most challenging public high school in the state. The stress level is unbelievable and most people say they put forth more effort here than they ever had to in college. If you don't take honors and AP classes, then you are looked down upon by peers, teachers and the administration. Very...
