GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall morale for education if fairly low. Not to say it is like this across the board for all teachers here, but more than not. Could definitely be a better school if funding was higher, and teaching standard was held at a higher level.

Amazing counselors and clubs. Great sports teams, arts, and extracurriculars. Great time thus far and almost done.

Out of my almost four years of high school at Gilmer. I have learned an abundance of new things starting from simple knowledge and baseball to what I want to do in this long journey they call life. High school is nothing of what it's made out to be. I remember my first day freshmen year, and I was petrified. The thought of the upper classman and the fact I have never been a popular kid by any means. But high school helped me find who I was and every day I remember how blesses I am to be here.

I have 3 graduates, one sophomore, and two more on their way to this high school. I will happily debate anyone with a negative review of this high school. This is a good school, with good staff, and in a good town. This school like any other gives any student what they work for. Their band program f...

What a shame on the negative reviews. I would submit that the parents obviously did not even go to the school as my Senior DID get prep for SAT and a ton of advice and a great plan for college. She starts college Fall 2017 on a full ride scholarship- as a parent I took the time to stay informed and...

Do not expect your high schooler to be properly prepared for college at GHS. The teachers and administration are purely interested in students getting passing test scores. There is no college prep, SAT prep, building of good study habits. It amazes me how many students graduate from GHS without lear...

I feel like GHS has really been headed in the right direction for the past two years. The teachers and students really seem to have a common goal and are working to be the best they can be. Classes are more structured and the student body really seems to understand what is expected of them.
