Elm Middle School is the Elmwood Park middle school. It brings students together from both John Mills Elementary and Elmwood Elementary and the nearby Montessori and Catholic elementary programs. About 680 children attend grades sixth through eighth here in recently renovated and expanded facilities. This school's curriculum introduces students to the College and Career Pathways program. Students will follow this combination of exploration, study and experience-based learning through high school. The overall goal is to help children learn about and focus on their interests. The Pathways program at Elm Middle School means that students are exposed to a range of ideas. They also have options to get a head start with high school credits in various subjects. The overarching mission is to let students succeed as unique individuals as they follow the paths best for them and their community. Apart from academics, students can also join various competitive sports teams. Elm Middle School is part of the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference, and several teams have undefeated seasons in their record books. Other extracurriculars include quiz teams, honor societies, a student council, band and choir.

The teachers at this school did their best to make all the students there feel comfortable and enjoy their middle school years. Middle school is typically a very stressful time in a child's life, between trying to make new friends and get good grades, but this school did very well at helping their student's grow and mature into good young adults.
