Elmwood Elementary is one of two public schools that offer pre-K through fifth grade in the Chicago suburb of Elmwood Park. Kids from south of the railroad tracks go here. This school's counterpart in the north is John Mills Elementary.
Both elementary schools in Elmwood Park have undergone significant upgrades recently thanks to a referendum. The updates at Elmwood Elementary broadly improved the facilities, which include ample outdoor recreation space, plenty of specialized classrooms, a media lab and an indoor gym.
As far as student life is concerned, Elmwood Elementary has a total enrollment of roughly 500 students with a 16-1 student-teacher ratio. Enrichment, art, technology and physical education classes supplement the core academic subjects, such as social studies and mathematics. Athletic students can take to the field in intramural sports, and extracurriculars range from music programs to the Panther Press student newspaper.
For those who grow up in southern Elmwood Park, this is their first stop before they head on to other public school options or choose to attend one of the private options.

We have had nothing but good experiences with the Teachers and administrative support at the school. They work with us to help keep our children moving in a positive direction academically and socially.

I attended a few years ago and learned nothing. My teacher was horrible and gave 2 hours of homework. I love school now, but this school made me hate education

The front office lady is miserable and shouldn't work with children.

I've never had a bad experience at an elementary school. Until now. Tread lightly, these are mean spirited people, with a grin on their face. Know that.
