Willard Elementary School strives to bring its community of multilingual and monolingual students together with immersive language instruction. Housed in a stately 19th-century building, Willard is named for Frances Willard, a prominent educator and social activist of the same era. Willard Elementary's mission to promote collaboration among its diversified student body is evident in its social and emotional learning initiatives like the four pillars of peace. Students are encouraged to contemplate how to speak, feel, make and know peace throughout the school year by listening, practicing inclusion and celebrating differences. A large percentage of Willard's students test at or above state proficiency levels for math, and over half test at or above state proficiency levels for reading. Academics are broken up by daily PE classes and athletic programs offered at Willard, including basketball and track and field. At the foundation of everything it does, Willard Elementary School is committed to building a student body around empathy, kindness and curiosity.

The teachers our children have had are excellent. Great community involvement. And the new principal is amazing. We are very happy with the school.

Willard is the star of District 65: small class sizes, great new principal, bilingual classes, most renovated building in the district, school garden, engaged parents and teachers, and a walk-to-school neighborhood setting.
