Learning is exciting, focused and engaging in each of the three primary schools that make up the Copley-Fairlawn City School District. Fort Island Primary School serves a little more than 370 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The school, nestled within the charming Fairlawn neighborhood of Akron, uses an intervention-based learning model. Students have time each week for extra help or to spend in the computer lab or enrichment programs. Teachers and parent volunteers work together to help students receive tailored instruction to improve progress. Fort Island Primary School’s cutting-edge media center offers students access to a wide variety of eBooks, 3D printers and iPads. The school’s counseling team provides classroom, group and individual sessions. To ensure access to modern learning technology, all students at Fort Island Primary School are provided a Chromebook. The school’s active PTA is a proud recipient of the National PTA School of Excellence award and offers dozens of programs and fundraising initiatives.
