St. Hilary Elementary School in Fairlawn provides students in preschool through eighth grade with a private, faith-centered education. The school received the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Award for excellence in education in 2001 and 2008. The school on Moorfield Road serves a little more than 500 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Using teaching methods tailored to individual student needs, the school also has intervention programs to reach students who need extra help. Kindergarten through second grade students can take enrichment programs for art, music and literature. A gifted program is available for students who earn high scores on cognitive tests. Church is an integral part of school life and students can celebrate Mass and receive sacraments. Extracurricular activities include clubs for art, chess, math and skiing. Students can also participate in several math competitions and science fairs. St. Hilary Elementary School sports programs include football, soccer, cheerleading and volleyball.
