GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

As a senior, I am able to say that my experience as Fairmont High was nothing less than interesting. It has a diverse population full of individuals with very unique personalities. It is known for its championship-winning sports teams and southern personalities.

My experience at Fairmont was pretty average some of the teachers are very passionate about what they do and also take the time to speak one on one with a student if they need help. Some classes will not have a teacher so a permanent substitute will be in there and it's harder to pass the class but most of the time there will be a teacher in there. The school is primarily African American but there are also lots of Native Americans too. Football and Basketball players often times get special treatment and administrators Will look the other way for their star players to avoid discipline. The lunch staff is very kind and outgoing about serving lunch to students. Assistant Principals usually only stay a couple of years before they move to a another school. The counselor Miss Tonya Locklear is very nice and will cooperate and help students when needed. College advisor Mr. Sun takes the time to sit down and guide students through their college applications.
