GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Galeton Area School is a great school, good education with small class sizes. Good community involvement and support. Our sports programs get good participation for such a small school and we are competitive in our league and district. I feel I am prepared to go to college.

I feel that Galeton definitely prepared me for college. After graduation, I was raring to get to Lycoming College and begin my studies. I knew what was going to be expected of me in college and I was more than ready to accept every single responsibility that came along with it. Now that I've been at Lycoming for a year, I can't see myself going anywhere else. I've fallen in love with the campus, the professors, the people, and the overall atmosphere of the college. Quite frankly, if I could live at Lyco year-round, I would.

I have experience with GASD from every angle. I attended the school as a student, moved back and sent my own children there, volunteered as a parent, worked as an educator, and contributed as a School Board member. Having lived all over the world I can honestly say, GASD is neither the best nor the...

This is school had nothing going for me other than sports when I attended school there. The actual academics were horrible with the exception of a few high school teachers I had who really challenged me to do better.

Moved to area in 2012 where my son began 3rd grade as an average student academically. The average has declined to below average now and nobody seems to care. We will be moving to ensure he has a better education. Not a good school at all!

this school does not prepair kids for the real world. The Teachers are often harsh twards the student body, and they don't care if the students are learning or not. I left Galeton after 11th grade and it was the best decission I ever made. I graduated from 21st Century Cyber Chater School, then Penn...
