GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Wasn't to bad, overall liked it. Teachers are nice as well as counselors but staff aren't too nice. School was pretty clean and food was alright.

My older sister garland High school. During her time there I saw how much the school cared for the student and staff. They really care for the safety of the student by making sure my parents were informed of any situation. One bad thing about south garland that my sister experienced was during their class election. She told me a few students were being racist to certain opponents but not much was taken action for.

Ghetto is as ghetto does. Kids either want to learn or they don't want to. Keep up the spirit. Sad when you go to football games you are told to be careful of gang activity.

were* ,*.... Also unlike what somebody else said, most the students, at least while i was at South, weren't at poverty level. My family is upper middle class and lots of the people i knew were from upper middle class families as well.

My oldest son graduated in 2008 from SGHS and my youngest will be a senior next year (2012/2013). I have nothing but great things to say about THE South Garland HS. The new principal is fantastic! He is getting the students and staff excited about SGHS. Both my boys passed all their exit TAKS tests...
