Founded in 1969, George Walton Academy (GWA) prepares children for success with a college-preparatory curriculum supported by a broad range of enrichment activities and rooted in Judeo-Christian principles. GWA is focused on developing the total child, helping them discover talents and interests as they learn. The curriculum is designed to continually prepare students for the next level. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten kids work on letters and numbers to get an introduction to reading, writing and math. Lower and middle school students have more structured classes, learning traditional subjects with hands-on experiences. In GWA’s upper school, high school kids may choose from the school’s rigorous honors program or Advanced Placement courses. Dual enrollment lets students earn college credit while they’re still in high school. GWA also offers global studies with exchange and immersion programs abroad. The exceptional academic program is rounded out with a full range of arts, athletics and activities, including an award-winning band program. The George Walton Academy Bulldogs compete in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association, with sports programs for kids of every age and region. Through its well-rounded program, George Walton Academy prepares children for excellence in college and life.

I love George Walton because of the family style culture and the close knit nature of the community locally. We have high involvement in our fine arts programs as well as many students being involved in many sports and clubs. I'd like to see the leadership of the school improve as in the past, there's been weak leadership which has caused us to lose students. Others than that, I've had a positive experience and I feel extremely prepared for college and the best journey in my life.

Overall I've had a very positive experience at George Walton Academy. My upperclassmen friends who have graduated and gone to college have reported that this school even over-prepares you for college. Even while having a few questionable teachers, I've learned a lot and feel prepared in continuing my education in college.

Wonderful sense of community, engaging and excellent teachers, supportive Administration and staff. My son is (finally) engaged in what he is learning, talking about his classes at dinner, completing his work on time and without prompting/reminders. While it is great to see him do well, what has been the best is how happy he is to go school each day.

Wonderful school for my 3 kids. Great family atmosphere. Sent my oldest to UNC Chapel Hill.

We have four children attending George Walton Academy, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. It’s been truly wonderful. I’d heard that the teachers were exceptional—and I wholeheartedly agree—but I was initially concerned that the community might feel too tight-knit or exclusive. That coul...

Great school on the outside but as soon as you peel away the layers you find a school that is only a pretty face. mental health is thrown to the ways side, and any child with a learning disability is treated terribly. Staff range from passive aggressive to down right rude and hostile. unless you wan...

Headmaster Hobbs and the faculty care deeply about quality education and character development. Parent engagement is an asset as well. Diverse opportunities exist for extracurricular activities.
