Sierra Verde Elementary is a Deer Valley Unified School District public school. It is located in Glendale, Arizona, and serves more than 700 students from Pre-Kindergarten through the eighth grade. Students come from the Arrowhead neighborhood.
Known as the Vipers, the students dress in green and purple on Fridays to show their Viper spirit. Despite the seemingly scary snake mascot, the school values community. Its motto is “Lead with Kindness.”
The Sierra Verde student body performed well in state testing. 77% of the students scored at or above the proficiency level in reading and 72% scored at or above the proficiency level in math.
The school integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) programs into each child's education. The school also incorporates the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school safety system, which supports students' positive classroom behavior.
In addition to the school’s educational programs, Sierra Verde Elementary offers a wide variety of after-school programs and clubs. These programs include book clubs, a chorus program, a drama club, a gardening club and a cross country club. Sierra Verde even has its own chicken coop and its Egg to Chick program enables kids to observe the hatching process.
Students may also participate in one of the school's many sports programs, including softball, baseball, volleyball, basketball and cheer.

I was bullied every day and the administration did nothing about it. Most older students here are racist and overall ignorant. Everyone who happens to be richer bullies lower class students. Huge drug issue on campus. Horrible gifted program. I had a teacher who was fired for acting out in front of students- most teachers for grades 6-8 here have gone completely nuts. Don't send your kids here if you want them to get bullied or receive a less than average education.

Horrific leadership in the admin office, apathy among teachers, young and/or inexperienced staff at the school and district level. Discipline to keep students accountable is suboptimal. They will lie, cheat and steal to protect themselves, student well-being is a low priority for “Sierra Dirty” IMO....

We love Sierra Verde and have two daughters there! The teachers and staff are excellent and accessible, the curriculum is solid, and we appreciate the culture of kindness. Highly recommend!

Great school! Also super nice to have direct access from the greenbelt to the school - lots of parents walking their kids to and from the neighborhoods. You also see lots of older children riding their bikes and scooters back home, too. The school's crosswalk helpers wave to every passing car. Very...
