Just a short walk from Loma Linda Park in Goodyear, Eliseo C. Felix School is a public elementary school serving children in second through fifth grade.
Part of the Avondale Elementary School District, Eliseo C. Felix teaches lessons on self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making and relationship skills.
The school district issues every student a mobile device so they can access digital lessons and engage in interactive learning. Students can also take coding classes at every grade level, even in kindergarten.
When it comes to getting away from screens and the classroom, students maintain physical fitness through a number of sports, including baseball, basketball, cross country, flag football, soccer, softball, track and field, or volleyball. Students can also get involved in groups and activities such as Girls on the Run, student council, Green Team or the garden club. And during the school year, students can participate in several school fundraisers, holiday events and field trips.
Originally named Pioneer Elementary, the school was renamed in 2005 to honor local Marine Eliseo C. Felix, who was killed in 1991 in the Gulf War.
