East Grand Rapids High School is one of the most competitive and high-achieving high schools in the Grand Rapids area. Students score well above average in math and reading state test scores and have earned many athletic state championships. The motto of the East Grand Rapids Public School District is “A Tradition of Excellence.” East Grand Rapids High has continued that tradition since it was first established in 1917. Students can take part in drama, visual arts and music in competitive and non-competitive events.
East Grand Rapids High School also has a history of student organizations and community involvement. Robotics Club, Key Club and the National Honor Society are just a few of the organizations that promote leadership and community-minded skills.
The Pioneer athletics program includes a broad range of individual and team sports, including swimming, golf, cross country, baseball, volleyball, basketball and football. Overall the school is incredible at college prep. It has great academics, the teachers are good, and the facilities are typically well managed. It has a rigorous academic environment, and almost all students are involved in extracurriculars.

The overall experience was good, but there was a lack of diversity at the school. Often times the kids at that school have no real understanding of the world outside of the "bubble".
