Yes, there are mostly 1-star reviews for Highland. I don't really agree with any of them. A lot of those reviews say that the school is outdated. Well, the school was built in 1949. I respect the efforts to keep HMS from succumbing to placelessness like Vernon Hills right next store. I also see that people think that the teachers aren't that great. My teachers, at least, were amazing, especially in 8th grade, especially my Spanish teacher. He prepared me for high school Spanish so well that even now I feel like I could have made the leap to my current Sophomore-level Spanish class in my freshman year. I also saw a review that stated that home-schooling your children is better than sending them to HMS. THAT IS UTTER AND COMPLETE NONSENSE.

A lot of people including me had bad experiences here. Administration works slow with bullying, and does whatever the parents tell them to. Easily swayed, slow at solving things, and old fashioned. It definitely needs more diversity, it's mostly white wealthy people. The restrooms and other parts definitely need an upgrade. There's a stall with two toilets.

Going to Highland Middle School was not a great experience. The students are fine, but there are many teachers who play favorites and are extremely strict.

I've lived a lot of places and we love Highland M.S. The teachers would bend over backwards for any student that needs help.

Awesome middle school! I had 3 children who went to HMS. The teachers and staff are caring, supportive people. When the pandemic hit, they went out of their way to make the middle schoolers feel a sense of normalcy in what was a crazy time. Over my 3 children's years there, I have ample examples of...

Great school and teachers. The parents and kids are friendly. Have a good opportunity to volunteers during the school year. The regular and advances classes are good curriculum.

I graduated last year so having gone through a pandemic with this school was awful! 6th was good, however the amount of homework seemed a bit excessive but nothing impossible to get done. 7th grade was fine but then the pandemic hit and everyone including most of the teachers seemed to stop caring/s...
