GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at Hillsboro High School is one that I have enjoyed, through it's ups and downs. The school is a wonderful sporting school, but because of that it tends to fall behind on academics. I've additionally noted several times when the teachers have said how restricted they are sometimes with the materials that they teach, although that has loosened up over the years. There is only one or two teachers per subject, so if you don't understand the subject through that teacher, you're done for. However, even with all the bad involved, there is even more good. Like I said, our sports teams have dominated near if not on the top of our region for many years, and we're getting better talents every year. We have wonderful support groups and even our own group to help raise scholarship money for graduates. The teachers are friendly, even if administration does lack a bit. All in all, I don't ever regret going to Hillsboro High School, and I don't think I ever will.

I would say it wasnt good but it wasnt awful. There was alot of good and bad things that happened. I feel as though we do not get prepared for college one bit. Also need some new teachers as most of them are very lax and overall just dont really do their job.

It's very sports-based. There are some opportunities for the arts and music, but a lot of the funding goes towards sports first. Very easy to pass.
