The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

What I liked about Homer was the small town atmosphere. Getting one-on-one help from teachers really aided me into becoming the best student I could be. Also, the friendships formed in a small school is great. Everybody knows everybody and there is not one unfamiliar face in the hallways. What I would like to see change is the overall school spirit and more preparedness for college.

Bullying is not allowed. I am thankful for this policy. I feel it is a wide spread problem that is finally being taken care of. Most administration is unapproachable. Our guidance counselor is not that way. I feel as though you could ask him anything and he would direct me in the right direction. I think him having been a teacher before really helps him relate to students.

There isn't a huge involvement of students in sports and our teams never seem to do well expect for girls basketball. Depending on the sport we can have an okay student section but there is hardly any school spirit which may be due to the lack of school spirit by school authorities.
