Edgewood Elementary School is a public school in the Homewood City School district. Originally founded in the 1920s, the school has remained a vital part of the community for nearly 100 years. Edgewood believes in Homewood City’s mission of empowering every student to maximize his or her unique potential.
The school promotes a challenging, student-centered learning environment that will prepare students for the world while building character and personal skills. It also promotes diversity, safety and overall wellness while fostering meaningful relationships and collaboration with the community. Edgewood Elementary strives to meet its students’ needs by exploring and offering multiple pathways to success, including a variety of methods for students to gain college and career readiness.
In 2021, Edgewood added a four-legged faculty member to their team. Foxie is the school’s yellow Labrador retriever service dog. Foxie’s job is to comfort students who are feeling anxious or upset and add to the overall positive atmosphere of the environment.
Edgewood Elementary School has also been awarded the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education.

One of the best public schools in the state. Great diversity and still some of the top test scores. Teachers, community and faculty for are all engaged in making it a positive environment for all.

Edgewood excels at teaching reading, writing and music. From the very beginning, they teach a love of reading, and this emphasis continues throughout the elementary school years.
