Homewood Middle School is part of the Homewood City School System and serves about 1,000 students from Grades 6 through 8. The student population is highly diverse, with 23 languages spoken among the student body. The school strives to embrace diversity by teaching acceptance of others, honoring differences and collaboration within the community. According to U.S. News and World Report, Homewood Middle is ranked 11th out of all Alabama middle schools, and most students achieve well above expectations in reading and math proficiency.
In 2014, the school was honored with the Green Ribbon School Award by the United States Department of Education for its resource management and conservation efforts. Homewood Middle School provides a rigorous academic curriculum and offers many electives and extracurricular activities, including robotics, fine arts and athletics. I go to HMS and it is amazing how nice the teachers and students are. Before this, I went to a private school and it could never compare to this because of how amazing this school is!!!

I teach in another school system, but live in Homewood and send my kids to HMS. It's a terrific school with a great combination of academic rigor and extracurricular choice. I'm impressed with the quality of instruction and excited about the push to even higher standards. Kudos!
