Houghton High is a decent school. It is definitely set up as a feeder school for Michigan Tech and has a heavy emphasis on STEM. We don't have a whole lot of choices for classes which leads a lot of students to explore dual enrollment or online class options. There are groups of students who have a lot of school spirit, but a large chunk of the student body just doesn't care all that much.

I've been in the Houghton School District for my entire life. I love the students, teachers, staff, and the loving community involvement. It is a great place to learn, since it has a safe and distraction-free environment with helpful staff who want you to succeed. One thing I'd like to see change is the lunch. We always have pizza and chips, and there are not a lot of healthy options. When we do have fruits and veggies, they are rotten or dented, so kids choose the pizza over the vegetables once again.

Overall my experience at HHS has been really good, they have a good variety of classes and some variety of people due to local colleges and foreign exchange programs. The teachers are really nice and hold you to a high standard because they know you can succeed and will help you with that succession.

Houghton schools has a variety of classes offered to the students which is great. But, I wish they would take Bullying more serious. They say they do, but, being a parent of my child that was bullied was terrible. They did not handle it properly, and, need to listen more closely to the parent, child...

Have had all 6 of my kids in the school system K-12. Great education, staff, administration, and faculty. Help is available when requested, bullying is more under control than other area schools~it's a top school of choice because of that. Clean, well maintained, easy access, safe, and friendly. Imp...

There are a few things I have to say about this school. The teachers are wonderful, but the administration is the exact opposite. The administration doesn't ever give students a second chance, unless that child participates in sports. Then they give that student as many chances as the student needs....
