GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have had some amazing mentors from Houlton High School and my teachers are absolutely wonderful. They are flexible, understanding, and willing to go above and beyond even outside of the classroom to help with your success. There are teachers I know that I can count on for anything and I have an amazing support system made up of the staff here.

I enjoy the fact that our school is a rather small, tight-knit community. There are no strangers, and you are able to speak one on one with the teachers. In a small school like Houlton, it is easy to get help when needed. However, I would like to see more clubs available. Sports is a very big subject in our school, but there are also many kids who love the arts. It would be wonderful if there were more art clubs for those who are not as active in sports.

On top of the learning disability, I was bullied and when I tried reporting my bullies I was told it was my own fault. If you have a choice, don't se...
